I often think about some of the interesting people I met once and lost their contact, the quick friends I made at Jamb lesson, the kids from children's church, and even my primary school paddies. Facebook allowed me to reconnect with a few of them from way back, but I rarely visit Facebook anyway.
I occasionally remember my first boyfriend, he has no digital footprint, as far as I know. Unlike his successors, we lost contact. I hope he’s doing good wherever he is. Sometimes, I think about my high school close friends and how we have drifted far apart, or my university geng.
It’s weird, how human connectivity can go from 100 to 0 in days, weeks, months, or years. A friend/writer I respect published an insightful piece on performative friendships on her blog.
I wonder what reconnecting with an old friend or acquaintance will feel like! Indeed one of the true essence of humanity is connectivity. Will you like to reconnect with an old friend or you’d rather move on?
Over the years, I have learned Intentionality, and watering relationships and friendships that needs to be watered.
